VSP-UMASS is a research group headed by
Professor Wayne Burleson in the
Electrical and Computer Engineering Department .
The unifying theme in this research is the coordination of VLSI Design, CAD
Tool Development and Communication System Design.
Our philosophy is that the design of chips, systems and CAD tools can be
tightly coupled for specific applications. The field of Communications
is particularly appropriate due to its many levels of complex algorithms,
its high-performance and low-power constraints. and its massive recent
growth in commercial and government applications. While numerous commercial
efforts are currently creating the communications systems for today, we are
trying to tackle research problems which will exploit the power of VLSI
technology to enable communications systems of the future.
A brief slide presentation describes the motivations behind the research and an overview of our approach to communications systems, VLSI design and CAD tools. |
